Hong Kong stocks opened higher. The HSI opened 51 points or 0.3% higher at 17,336. The HSCEI opened 26 points or 0.4% higher at 6,146. The HSTECH opened 14 points or 0.4% higher at 3,568.

CNOOC (00883.HK) elevated 3.8% after it recorded a 24% growth in 1Q24 net profit, while CHINA OILFIELD (02883.HK) hiked 1% to $8.94 after it recorded an increase of 57% in 1Q24 net profit.

For techs, BABA-SW (09988.HK) added 0.3% to $73.2, while TENCENT (00700.HK) picked up 0.2% to $340. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) climbed 0.5-1.3%, while SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) jumped 1.2%. Brokers said that SENSETIME-W's "SenseNova 5.0" foundation model outperforms GPT-4 Turbo in Chinese context. ZTE (00763.HK) gained 0.7% to $16.28 after it reported a growth of 3.7% in 1Q24 net profit.
