Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that a number of major Chinese state-owned financial companies have asked Hong Kong employees to return some of their bonuses. Several Hong Kong executives and even ex-employees of China Everbright Group and Huarong International have been asked to return some of their bonuses in recent months.

It is learnt that after the Chinese government inspected Everbright's operations in Hong Kong, the proportion of bonus return requests at Everbright was less than 10%. Still, it is unclear how many employees will be affected and whether employees below the senior management level will be involved.
