The global cloud industry remains incredibly vibrant, with demand for computing power exceeding supply, said Ethan Yuan, Vice President of International Business, Regional General Manager of Hong Kong & Macau, Alibaba Cloud under BABA-W (09988.HK).

Business revenue in Hong Kong continues to maintain double-digit growth, and Alibaba Cloud will continue to ramp up investment in the Hong Kong and Macau markets, he said. While Hong Kong data centers have three available zones, he revealed that future expansion will include adding and updating equipment such as racks, as well as strengthening talent recruitment.

Alibaba Cloud also launched the Hong Kong Model Studio generative AI development platform, where customers can call Qwen and Wan models with parameter scales ranging from 500 million to hundreds of billions. Model Studio will be deployed on Alibaba Cloud's Hong Kong cloud infrastructure, enabling enterprises and developers to use reliable generative AI models at a faster speed and higher compliance standards.

At this year's summit, Alibaba Cloud signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) to establish a joint AI laboratory, with the goal to expedite AI applications in Hong Kong and foster digital transformation.
