The No. 5 alarm fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po affected a large number of households, Secretary for Housing, Winnie Ho, said. After the Housing Bureau Task Force on Transitional Housing and various transitional housing project operators took stock of the current number of available units, it was found that a total of 30 projects have over 1,400 units available for residents in need, along with dedicated rehousing estates from the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS), initially providing nearly 1,800 units. As of 6 pm yesterday (27th), 126 households comprising 275 affected residents had been accommodated at 'Good House'; 33 households with approx. 70 affected residents had been accommodated at 'Lok Sin Tsuen'; and 4 households with 14 affected residents had been accommodated at 'Trackside Villas'. As the transitional housing projects in Tai Po District are nearing full occupancy, the Task Force on Transitional Housing will subsequently assist in arranging for residents in need to move into transitional housing projects in North District and Yuen Long District, which offer 80 and approx. 500 units respectively.
