After months of pressure from the automobile industry, the EU is poised to unwind rules on new car emissions, abolishing the ban on internal combustion engines vehicles (ICEVs), Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The European Commission will lower requirements that effectively prohibit the sale of gasoline and fossil fuel new cars starting in 2035, allowing a certain number of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and EVs with fuel-powered range extenders to be sold, sources divulged.
