Last Friday (19th), Meituan's drone division unveiled several new products, including a low-altitude drone network, an intelligent drone transfer hub, and new-generation drone models, according to a report by Chinese media outlet National Business Daily.

Mao Yinian, Meituan's vice president and head of its drone business unit, revealed that the company now has drones operating 65 routes in cities such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Dubai, and the drones have completed 740,000 commercial orders so far.

It is also understood that low-altitude airspace has become a new battleground in the competitive on-demand retail arena. Taobao Instant Commerce announced in November the launch of four drone routes on Huaniao Island in Zhejiang to serve local consumption and emergency delivery needs.

In October, JD LOGISTICS (02618.HK) unveiled plans to procure 3 million robots, 1 million unmanned vehicles, and 100,000 drones over the next five years to fully integrate automation across its logistics supply chain. SF INTRA-CITY (09699.HK) is also exploring synergies between S.F. Holding's drone operations and its on-demand delivery business.
