The China Index Academy (CIA) has published an outlook report on China's housing market in 2026. The report highlighted that the overall market is still in a de-stocking phase, even though proactive policy measures will help accelerate the release of housing demand. Due to a drastic reduction in new construction starts and land transactions in recent years, new housing supply remains limited in most cities except for some core urban areas where supply stays at a certain scale. Consequently, the market will mainly focus on digesting unsold inventory, and the recovery of supply and demand still faces pressure. The report also cited calculations based on the China Real Estate Industry Medium- and Long-Term Development Dynamic Model, which estimated that China's real estate market will show a continued decline in sales in 2026.
