The DJIA, hampered by the decline following JPMorgan's earnings release, tumbled 398 points or 0.8% overnight (13th), while chip stocks were speculated. Hong Kong bourse opened higher this morning, with the HSI opening 123 points or 0.5% higher at 26,971; the HSCEI opening 42 points or 0.5% higher at 9,328; and the HSTECH opening 24 points or 0.4% higher at 5,894. In the tech sector, BABA-W (09988.HK) opened 2.4% higher at HK$163.8. TENCENT (00700.HK) opened 1% higher at HK$634. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) opened 1.6% higher. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) opened flat at HK$104.9. JD-SW (09618.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) opened 0.9% and 0.1% lower, respectively. HAIDILAO (06862.HK) opened 5.8% higher after its Chairman and Executive Director, Zhang Yong, was appointed as CEO, having previously stepped down as CEO in March 2022. NONGFU SPRING (09633.HK) opened 3.4% higher, while TRIP.COM-S (09961.HK) opened 3.0% lower. Pharmaceuticals rallied, with HANSOH PHARMA (03692.HK), BEONE MEDICINES (06160.HK), and SINO BIOPHARM (01177.HK) opening 3.3-3.4% higher. PHARMARON (03759.HK), expecting a 6-10% decrease in full-year profit, opened 1.7% higher at HK$24.6.
