TENCENT (00700.HK) plans to be a passive financial investor investing several hundred million dollars in Paramount (PSKY.US)'s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD.US), Bloomberg reported, citing sources. According to submitted documents, TENCENT had committed to a USD1 billion equity investment in Paramount's offer to acquire Warner Bros last December. This commitment, however, was later withdrawn due to concerns from Warner Bros about potential national security issues raised by US regulators over TENCENT's involvement. After Paramount revised its offer, Warner Bros eventually agreed to sell the company for USD110 billion, though TENCENT may ultimately decide not to invest. AAStocks Financial News |
