<Research>CMS Keeps Overweight on BYD COMPANY; 2nd-Gen Blade Battery Enables 5-Min Fast Charging

According to a China Merchants Securities report, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) has unveiled its second-generation blade battery and fast charging technology. The new battery achieves charging from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes, new records for energy replenishment speed in mass-produced models. On-site tests showed that the BYD Seal 07 EV charged from 10% to 97% in about 8 minutes and 44 seconds. The carmaker has set the charging limit at 97% to reserve about 3% of the battery capacity for regenerative braking energy recovery. Amid the early-year sales pressure, the new generation of battery technology and product cycle is expected to enhance market expectations, driving BYD COMPANY to re-establish a differentiated competitive advantage.
