Alibaba rose 5.4% as Monger increased holding to under pin the market’s rebound.

The market opened lower on Thursday. Hang Seng index opened down 64 points, H share index down 10 points and technology index down 38 points. Famous investors Monger increased holding of Alibaba. Share price rose 2.6% to lead the gainers for 42-point gain. On the contrary, Tencent lost 2.2% for 39-point loss. Wuxi Biologics lost 4.6% to lead the losers for 24-point loss. HK Exchanges lost 2.3% for 23-point loss. Yuzhou International sold its property management company for $1 billion. Share price rose 9.2%. Colour Life rose 5.6%. A shares opened down 14 points. The market turned from loss to gain, as Shenzhou, Meituan and JD rebounded. Alibaba rose further by 5% for 80-point gain. Meituan rose 2.8% for 42-point gain. The Indian Government demanded $700 million in back taxes. Share price lost 1%. Power generators fell again. CR Power lost 8.7%. China Power lost 3.2%. Huaneng International lost 5.8%. Datang NE lost 3.5%. The market turned from gain to loss in midmorning. Wuxi Biologics lost 6.2% for 32-point loss. HSBC lost 1.3% for 27-point loss. HK Exchanges lost 2.2% for 22-point loss. Hang Seng index fell to a low of 22709, down 198 points. A shares closed the morning down 6 points. The market rebounded slightly before midday. Hang Seng index closed the morning down 82 points, H share index down 31 points and technology index down 30 points. Turnover was $73.8 billion.

The market was little changed in early afternoon, as technology stocks firmed. Hang Seng index lost less than 100 points. Wuxi Biologics lost 3.5% for 18-point loss. CCB lost 1.4% for 16-point loss. HK Exchanges lost 1.64% for 16-point loss. HSBC lost 0.8% for 15-point loss. ENN lost 6.85% to become the top loser for 14-point loss. On the contrary, Alibaba rose 3.9% for 62-point gain. Meituan rose 1% for 16-point gain. Tencent rose 0.7% for 12-point gain. Chalieco rose 34% to lead all stocks. Many small cap stocks fell sharply. Huasheng International lost 95%. Beng Soon Machinery lost 93%. Hans Energy lost 78%. Superactive Group lost 78%. New energy stocks fell. Xinyi Solar lost 1.3%. GCL lost 2.2%. Suntian NE lost 3.1%. CGN NE lost 5.2%. A shares closed down 9 points. Hang Seng index turned from loss to gain in late trading, as Alibaba rose 5.4% for 87-point gain. Meituan rose 3.3% for 51-point gain. AIA rose 1.3% for 24-point gain. Tencent rose 1% for 19-point gain. Hang Seng index closed up 165 points, H share index up 53 points and technology index up 73 points. Turnover was $134.5 billion.

Overnight, overseas markets fell. DAX lost 220 points. CAC lost 127 points and FTSE lost 66 points. US markets fell for the second consecutive day. Dow Jones lost 171 points. S & P lost 4 points and Nasdaq lost 19 points. Hong Kong ADR’s rose 104 points. Night future rose 214 points. We expect the market to fall today.
